We encourage applications from mature individuals 14 years and up, though some positions require specific age requirements. In some cases, we have considered younger staff for part time positions if they show they can possess the necessary maturity and life skills.
All applications can be made online at www.maritimefun.com/jobs/
Once an application is submitted, applicants will be contacted for an interview. Interviews are usually conducted as group interviews. Once interviewed, we will contact the successful applicant within one week to offer the position.
Schedules are posted on an online scheduling system called When I Work. They are posted every Tuesday for the following Sunday to Saturday. Occasional time off can be requested through When I Work at least two weeks in advance.
Staff are responsible for their own schedule. E-mail will be the primary source of communication for posting schedules and for scheduling requests. It is their responsibility to check their e-mail at least every second day to receive notifications from the scheduling software (When I Work).
Always call (not e-mail or text) if an unforeseen situation will make them miss a shift or late for a shift (i.e. illness). An e-mail may not be received in time for management to adjust the schedule in these circumstances and although texting can sometimes be useful, they cannot assume that member of management is currently on shift, so it is not a suitable primary means of communication.
If they are calling about a shift for that day they should do so with as much notice as possible by calling the Maritime Fun Group Reception desk (902-963-3939 ext. 264).
Wages start at minimum wage, with increases based on the requirements of a particular job, such as food safety, first aid and lifeguarding certifications, provincial legislation and our commitment to ensuring that staff are fairly compensated.
Pay-cheques are issued bi-weekly. Payroll schedules are posted in staff rooms. They will be available for pickup every second Thursday at 4:00 pm from the on-duty supervisor. Cheques will reflect hours worked as of the end of the Saturday prior to pay day. Staff will initial the pay-cheque pick-up sheet when they receive your cheque. End of season pay-cheques as well as T4s will be mailed.
New employees will be required to attend an orientation session in the spring. During this time, they will become familiar with general park policies and procedures. Employees that cannot attend this session will be required to undergo an alternate orientation prior to their first shift. In depth training at specific stations will take place when appropriate.
Staff will be issued a uniform when they begin. They will be asked to sign a contract when they receive the uniform, as well as when they return or exchange any piece of the uniform. Their signature is an acknowledgement of receipt of the articles listed, which will be used when they return the items.
These uniforms belong to Maritime Fun Group and are on loan. Items not returned, or returned in poor condition, will be deducted from the final pay cheque, based on current replacement cost of the item. If they need to exchange sizes do so with the office, not co-workers.
We encourage staff to arrange a car pool with another staff member or two. It is not always guaranteed that they will be scheduled with your carpool, especially if everyone in the carpool has varying availability. They must be able to get drives outside of the carpool, when necessary. Carpools cannot contain more than three employees, and must be employed at the same location.
The City Beach Express is a bus that runs from Charlottetown to Cavendish and back daily. Seats on the bus need to be booked in advance and we need to be notified so we can schedule the shifts accordingly. Pick up and drop off locations, schedule and costs can be found here: www.citybeachexpress.com
Staff should contact our Human Resources Department at email@example.com to let us know if carpooling, or taking the bus, and we will do our best to accommodate.
This is not an exclusive rental, the facility will be open to other guests.
